Cinnamon Whiskey, Hold the Sugar

Not Your College cinnamon whiskey

Flavored whiskeys have received a less-than-stellar reputation, with most adding sugar, artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors, and questionable additives. This reputation has spread beyond whiskeys into other flavored spirits like vodka and rum. Considering the syrupy flavor and thick mouthfeel of some flavored spirits, it is no wonder that only a few people prefer them. This is especially true within the trendy cinnamon whiskey category.

Fortunately, a new product on the market challenges the status quo of flavored whiskeys. Its name? ScandaLust Cinnamon Whiskey. Handcrafted in small batches, this flavored spirit is everything you could hope for in a bottle. Yet, despite its soft sweetness and cinnamon goodness, you’d be mistaken for thinking this is a milder take on traditional flavored whiskey. ScandaLust, after all, is not only sugar-free but is made exclusively with the ingredients on the bottle: cinnamon and whiskey.

So how is this masterpiece so delicious? We take our time in handcrafting ScandaLust, much like we do with all of our spirits. Each batch is measured, weighed, and carefully timed before being tested, sampled, and adjusted. We know the spirit is ready when it smells of freshly baked cinnamon bread with a spicy, yet sweet, flavor.

How Best to Enjoy?

The true delight of ScandaLust is that there is no single way to enjoy this spirit. Remember that Clear Water Distilling spirits are crafted with sipping in mind. Shooting is not recommended, as the flavor is far more subtle and easily missed. Instead, pour yourself an ounce or two neat or on the rocks and enjoy slowly sipping and letting the flavor bloom on your palate.

The delightful cinnamon also lends itself well to baked goods and candies. When baking, alcohol is a recommended liquid when wanting more moisture but not more gluten development. This is because ethyl alcohol does not attach with gluten the same as water, leaving the gluten less hydrated. This allows you to achieve a flakier pie crust with vodka, or a different density in your cinnamon loaf.

Finally, unlike some cinnamon whiskeys, this scandalous spirit lends itself to a breadth of mixed drinks from bold mixers to spirit forward cocktails. One of our favorites is the ScandaLust spin on the old fashioned. We have included other ideas below with more on our recipes page, so don’t let the flavoring confuse you into limiting this spirit, because shine is what she does best. Let us know how you enjoy your ScandaLust in the comments below.
